What is latin Dancing?
Cha-Cha-Cha - Originating from Cuba, the Cha-Cha-Cha, or Cha-Cha, is a playful and lively dance known for its quick hip actions and vibrant energy. It suits modern 4/4 music, making it a popular choice for social dancing. At RISE Dance, we ensure you enjoy learning this dynamic style with flair.
Samba - Celebrated for its association with Rio De Janeiro's carnivals, Samba features a rhythmic bounce action, making it a joyful experience. Its 2/4 rhythm draws from various musical styles, offering a fun introduction to Latin dancing at RISE Dance.
Rumba - Known as the 'Queen' of Latin dances, Rumba originates from 16th-century Cuba and is danced to a slow 4/4 tempo, emphasising sensual body movements. RISE Dance invites you to explore Rumba's romantic and passionate dance style.
Paso Doble - Dramatic and theatrical, Paso Doble simulates a Spanish bullfight with its powerful marching movements and is set to a 2/4 time signature. RISE Dance guides you through its intensity, incorporating elements from Flamenco for a captivating experience.
Jive - A high-energy, fun dance, Jive is recognised for its fast-paced steps to 4/4 music, incorporating influences from swing and rock'n'roll. Beginners and all levels can enjoy the infectious rhythm of Jive at RISE Dance.
What else do i need to know
Once you’re signed up to a class, what do you need to know to prepare for the first session?
Before your first session, remember to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for dancing. Comfortable shoes with a secure fit, like plimsoles, are ideal for beginners. We don't recommend sandals or flip flops, as they can easily fall off during dancing. Dance shoes are unnecessary at the beginner stage, and our team can offer advice if you decide to invest in them later.
Choose clothing that allows you to move freely and comfortably; loose clothing or sportswear works well. There's no need to purchase specific dancewear for class, and formal ballroom attire is not required at the social level. While many couples enjoy dressing up for our social events, it's entirely optional. Your focus should be on having fun, staying safe, and enjoying the world of Latin Dancing at RISE Dance!
